This is the quote of Daniel Carnegie, a Scottish-American industrialist, business magnate, and philanthropist.
He hired famous Napoleon Hill to gather up the wisdom of the rich, successful and powerful for a period of 20 years. The book “Think & Grow Rich”, which became a bible for entrepreneurs and self-made millionaires, is the result of this 20 year-long project.
Thinking rather positively instead of negatively appeared to be one of the biggest traits the rich, successful and powerful had and have in common.
Positivity lets you go for the big challenges your big goals contain. Because you will never dare to do something out of the ordinary if you don’t expect to get good results.
What people often fail at when they have expectations is that they don’t accurately enough check if their expectations have a solid ground.
Unrealistic expectations are doomed to create frustrations and resentment.
Therefore, making sure that you have good reasons to expect what you expect gives it also a better feeling.
You can tell the expectations of someone by taking a look at the situation he finds himself in. The housing situation he is living in. His job and income. His relationships. They are all a result of what we consciously or subconsciously expect. If our conscious expectations aren’t met constantly, it is worth to transmit these expectations by visualizing and affirmations to your subconscious mind.
Expectations determine our behavior. For example: When we know that a particular person is going to help us out with something, we don’t get the idea of behaving badly when we are with this person. We try to treat this person very good. The same goes for other things. When we don’t expect to succeed in something or get what we want, most likely and most of us stop investing time and energy in this endeavor. Or at least decrease it.
When you don’t expect great success to happen, you don’t behave in your most successful way. Your energy in form of thoughts, focus, and actions goes somewhere else.
When you focus on great things and beautiful changes in your life to happen by expecting them also, you direct your energy on the realization of your deepest wishes and goals. Energy in form of goal-achieving ideas, actions and coincidences in which you meet people who, “by chance”, happen to be able and willing to help you with your goals or inspire you in some useful way.
Expect great and beautiful things to happen. And once they appear, never use the phrase “It is too good to be true.”. This phrase contains the expectation of not being worthy of such amount of great and beautiful things all at the same time in your life. So, ideally, you delete this phrase forever from your vocabulary. Now.
Once great and beautiful things and changes start to happen in your life, welcome them and expect them to stay with you by including them in your self-image. Consciously appreciate them and if it is a person, tell this person that you appreciate her or him.
Most of us probably made the experience, that when we expected something to happen, something happened. It is closely connected to one’s self-prophecy and the R.A.S. Your brain filter system for what you perceive in the outer world.
You must think positive and act positively at every moment. Successful people are positive people who expect great and beautiful things to happen.
So be positive and always expect and believe something good, great or beautiful to happen.
Expect from yourself to do your part of making those things happen too. Believe that you are worthy of all good, great and beautiful things in life.
And they surely start to appear.
Make sure you welcome them confidently with open arms once they appear. Just act in these moments with joy and confidence.
